Climate change is one of the biggest challenges worldwide. We need to change fundamentally for a low-carbon and climate-resilient society. To shape the upcoming change and to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, there is still a long way to go.

We are committed to the goal of “Paris compatibility”. This concept requires that we review all of our investments to see if they can be reconciled with a zero-emission future in 2050. We advise investors and analyze regulatory, technical and socio-cultural barriers. We advise governments on strategies to overcome these barriers to help consumers and the economy to “act right”. In doing so, we draw on the experience of Germany, but also more and more on our analyzes in the international field, and stand for the dissemination of international best practices.

Topics here are the design of political framework conditions, financing mechanisms for climate action and the analysis “what worked and what did not work?” for individual countries, sectors, policies, programs and projects. We support Germany’s climate protection activities by supporting policymakers in designing and implementing funding programs such as the National Climate Initiative (NKI) or the International Climate Initiative (IKI). We work for the Green Climate Fund, the Climate Investment Funds and the Global Environment Facility, KfW, GIZ and Z-U-G. We support philanthropic organizations, associations and other research institutions in the analysis of effective climate activities. Monitoring and evaluation of national and international climate mitigation programs are our core competencies, providing the important empirical support for policy-making.
