Climate change is currently one of the greatest global challenges. Achieving a low-carbon and climate-resilient society requires profound transformation. The path toward a climate-neutral world and limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius is still long.
As a climate consulting institute, we support companies, governments, financial institutions, and organizations in developing and implementing effective climate action measures. Our goal is to promote Paris-compatible solutions that balance economic, social, and ecological dimensions. To this end, we advise our clients and analyze regulatory, technical, and socio-cultural barriers. We help governments design strategies to overcome existing obstacles, making it easier for consumers and the economy to “do the right thing.” In doing so, we draw on our experience in Germany as well as on our international analyses, and we actively contribute to spreading international best practices.
Our work focuses on key issues such as shaping policy frameworks, developing and optimizing financing mechanisms for climate action, and analyzing the central question: “What has worked—and what has not?” We conduct in-depth analyses at the level of individual countries, sectors, policies, programs, and projects.
Our clients include, among others, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), KfW, GIZ, and Z-U-G. We also work with philanthropic organizations, associations, and research institutions to analyze effective climate activities.
We support Germany’s climate action efforts by advising policymakers on the design and implementation of funding programs such as the National Climate Initiative (NKI) and the International Climate Initiative (IKI). In addition, we advise federal states on updating their climate action strategies.
The evaluation of national and international climate programs and projects is one of our core competencies. These evaluations provide a solid empirical basis for policymaking and organizational development. For example, we evaluated UNEP’s Climate Change Programme and supported the establishment of its new Climate Change Division. We also bring expertise in diverse thematic fields such as industrial and transport decarbonization, climate transparency, and sufficiency.
