Nuclear phase-out 2015? All lights off without nuclear power plants?

Project Background

This study was prepared for .ausgestrahlt e.V. and shows that an immediate nuclear energy exit would be possible. Even assuming a very pessimistic scenario – with darkness, no wind and maximum electricity demand – there would, on a calculartoy basis, be enough non-nuclear energy plants available to cover Germany’s energy supply.

Type and scope of services

Arepo prepared the analyzes and was responsible for the entire study. The short study includes five fact sheets

1. on the current account,
2. alternative approaches to measuring security of supply,
3. the national current account in an immediate nuclear phase-out in 2015,
4. available power plant capacity in southern Germany and
5. measures to improve security of supply.
