Dr. Guido Ropers

Guido Ropers’ research and work focuses on the application of statistical analysis methods for project evaluation with a substantive focus on national project evaluations.

Before joining Arepo, Guido Ropers was a research assistant at the Chair of European Politics at the University of Mannheim. There he held seminars in the areas of international political economy and quantitative methods. Before that, he worked for several years as a research assistant editor for the international journal “American Political Science Review”.

He holds a PhD in political science from the “Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences” at the University of Mannheim. During his doctoral studies, Guido Ropers analyzed the political and economic effects of regional policy in structurally weak regions using design-based, causal policy evaluation methods. In addition, he was involved in various research projects during this time, where he gained experience in the development and design of online surveys and survey experiments, among other things. Previously, he graduated from Mannheim University with an M.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Economics and spent time abroad at the National University of Singapore and the Central European University in Budapest. As a student assistant for “Survex – Survey Methods Consulting” he gained first experiences in law evaluation in the field of consumer protection already during his bachelor studies.
