Support to the C40 Cities Finance Facility in the assessment of project applications. Environmental Assessment

Project Background

The C40 Cities Finance Facility (CFF) is a joint project of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The initiative is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, the Government of the United Kingdom and the United States Agency for International Development. The CFF supports C40 cities in developing and emerging countries to prepare and deliver sustainable, low carbon and climate change adaptation projects.
Established in 2015 and having supported three C40 member cities, the CFF in 2018 transitioned towards its second phase to last until 2021. For this phase the CFF aimed at supporting 15 new cities in developing countries and emerging markets.

Type and scope of services

The objective of the assignment was to support the CFF in the assessment of 32 project applications to select the 15 new cities by carrying out environmental assessments of each project proposal.
