Strategic Evaluation of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) – Catalytic Role of the IKI

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) has been financing climate and biodiversity conservation projects in developing, emerging and transition countries since 2008. In the second IKI evaluation cycle, the objectives of the strategic evaluations are: 1) to achieve learning effects through the analysis of successes and failures as a basis for future management decisions, 2) to support learning at the level of partner countries and the international expert community for climate and biodiversity initiatives beyond the IKI, 3) to report to donors and the public on the extent to which the funds invested are fulfilling their purpose and achieving the desired impact, 4) to identify the respective impact mechanisms for effective operational and strategic programme management by BMU and ZUG.
