Project Background
In 2012 the German Government called for a monitoring process concerning the German energy transition. At the same time, several research institutions and consultancies developed and published different measuring systems for the energy transition.
Type and scope of services
In this report, eight of those systems were reviewed and analysed with regard to their understandability, their scientific approach, their completeness and their relation to the energy transition. This comparison allowed for insights into the similarities and differences with regard to the comprehension of the energy transition and demonstrated some fundamental challenges and deficits of the indicator-based approach on the one hand, and the German energy transition on the other.
