Central project evaluation of the project Adaptation to Climate Change and Sustainable Rural Development through Resilient Land Use and Disaster Risk Reduction in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan

PROJECT BACKGROUND

Arepo was commissioned by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with the central project evaluation of the project ” Technology based Adaptation to Climate Change in Rural Areas of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan “. The overall objective of the project is to improve the planning of the responsible authorities for climate adaptation in rural areas in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan with the help of modern information technology and geodata management. The focus is on the state administrations, which can only roughly plan the corresponding adaptation measures for the people in the mountain regions, because the existing basic data are insufficient. Above all, there is a lack of climate-relevant geographic information and modern techniques to process and manage this geodata and to pass it on to relevant authorities. The evaluation is an ex-post evaluation that will take place between August 2022 and June 2023. The primary objective of the central project evaluation is to monitor the project in terms of its design, its impact, and the quality of its implementation.

TYPE AND SCOPE OF SERVICES

Arepo is evaluating the project on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. A significant part of this evaluation involves on-site research. The pro-ject evaluation consists of a de-tailed analysis according to the OECD-DAC criteria.
