PROJECT BACKGROUND
Arepo was commissioned by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with the central project evaluation of the project “Sustainable and Environment-friendly Industrial Production”. The overall project objective is to strengthen the strategic and operational governance structures of the Indian government to effectively combat water pollution from industrial effluents. The focus is on the technical, organizational and human resources capacities at all levels of the environmental administration, which show considerable deficiencies in the design and enforcement of environmental regulations. As a result, polluters lack a key incentive to invest in environmental protection measures, and efficient, environmentally and climate-friendly industrial development is hindered. The evaluation is an ex-post evaluation that will take place between September 2022 and July 2023. The primary objective of the central project evaluation is to monitor the project in terms of its design, its impact, and the quality of its implementation.
TYPE AND SCOPE OF SERVICES
Arepo is evaluating the project on behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit. A significant part of this evaluation involves on-site research. The pro-ject evaluation consists of a de-tailed analysis according to the OECD-DAC criteria.
