Timo Kaphengst

Timo Kaphengst is the managing director of Arepo, where he is primarily responsible for finance, office management, human resources, and corporate development. He worked for many years in an international think tank, established a citizen-owned corporation, and served as its CEO. He also works independently as a process designer and facilitator.

From 2007 to 2016, Timo Kaphengst worked for the Ecologic Institute as a fellow, later as a senior fellow and coordinator for biodiversity in numerous national and international research and consulting projects. His main areas of focus were biodiversity policy, land use, bioenergy, agriculture, and social transformation.

After two years of development work, he founded Regionalwert AG Berlin-Brandenburg in 2018 together with renowned players from the organic food industry and led it for six years as managing director. Regionalwert AG is a public limited company that invests citizen capital in organic farming and food production and builds regional value chains.

Timo Kaphengst has extensive experience in working with stakeholders and networks from business, research, politics, civil society, activists, and local authorities. As a process designer and facilitator, he has supported companies, civil society organizations, and public authorities in strategic and participatory processes, whether to develop new business areas, make changes towards greater sustainability, or implement political goals.

Timo Kaphengst studied landscape ecology and nature conservation at the University of Greifswald, focusing on landscape economics and environmental ethics.
