Arepo was contracted by the Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to evaluate the project \u201cRenewable Energies and Energy Efficiency for Climate Protection.\u201d<\/em> The GIZ project aimed to improve the institutional and legal framework for the use of renewable energies and energy efficiency solutions in Ghana. The project applied a multi-level approach to strengthen the capacities of public and private actors in the fields of renewable energies and energy efficiency through technical, organizational, and process-related consulting as well as strategic competence development. Among other activities, it advised the responsible ministry and its subordinate authorities on medium- and long-term planning in the power sector and supported the staff of state-owned energy supply companies through technical, organizational, and process-related consulting and strategic competence development. In addition, the project placed a focus on vocational training in the field of renewable energies and energy efficiency, including climate- and environmentally friendly air-conditioning and cooling systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The evaluation was an ex-post evaluation, carried out between May 2024 and April 2025. Its primary objective was to review the project\u2019s design, its impact, and the quality of its implementation. For this purpose, Arepo conducted a detailed analysis according to the OECD-DAC criteria.
