PROJECT BACKGROUND<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU has set itself the target of achieving climate neutrality by 2050, Germany has anchored this as a target for 2045 in the Climate Protection Act (KSG). The State of Saxony aims to become climate-neutral by 2045 at the latest. In order to meet the targets and requirements that can be derived from resolutions, it is nevertheless essential to concretize the political goals at the sector level. The reduction targets are composed of the sub-targets of all greenhouse gas-relevant sectors (energy production, households, trade and services, industry, transport, agriculture, waste and wastewater management and LULUCF). A central challenge also lies in the delineation of the effects of EU, federal and state measures and the existing legal framework on Saxony’s greenhouse gas reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TYPE AND SCOPE OF SERVICES<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In cooperation with IE Leipzig, Arepo is developing the sectoral targets for Saxony’s State Office for the Environment, Agriculture and Geology (LfULG) in this project. For this purpose, Saxony-specific GHG scenarios will be developed, aligned with the Energy and Climate Program Saxony 2023 (EKP) and analyzed. In order to determine the sub-targets, the existing climate policy requirements on EU, federal and state level as well as the structural characteristics of the respective sector in Saxony are investigated. Plausible reduction targets are modelled for each sector for the year 2030, as well as how these targets can be achieved. The results of this study will be used by the Saxon state government to set the state’s sectoral objectives in legislation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
